ChatGPT Ads Begin Expanding to India

OpenAI is bringing ChatGPT Ads to India through a phased market rollout, with advertiser access opening gradually. The expansion comes as India is ChatGPT’s second-largest market, where OpenAI reported more than 100 million weekly users in February 2026.

Initial Brands and Agency Support

More than 50 brands are expected to start advertising during the launch week. WPP and Omnicom have been named as the first agency partners for the India rollout.

The agencies are expected to assist participating brands with strategy, creative development, measurement, brand safety and campaign execution.

The arrangement has been described as non-exclusive. This means OpenAI could work with other agencies as the advertising program develops in India.

Self-Service Ads Manager Opens in September

Advertise in ChatGPT Ads

Self-service access to ChatGPT Ads Manager in India is scheduled to open on September 4, 2026.

Advertisers with access will be able to create an account and manage campaigns directly through Ads Manager. This includes setting campaign objectives, budgets, dates and targeting options.

Daily Campaign Budget Starts at ₹725

OpenAI’s campaign guide lists ₹725 as the minimum daily budget for India.

OpenAI treats the daily budget as an average over seven days. If a campaign has a ₹725 daily budget, its spending can be lower or higher on individual days. Any unused amount can be spent later within the same seven-day period.

Disclaimer: This guide reflects the information available at the time of writing. ChatGPT Ads is still rolling out in India. OpenAI may update its access requirements or campaign features. Check the latest official documentation before starting a campaign.
